I've never been more disappointed in a video game in my life. Don't get me wrong, the physics engine is better than ever, and the actual driving is better than ever, but any and all praise from me stops there. Career mode is shit. The credits system is shit. You don't get cars for leveling up anymore, fuck you turn 10. You don't get discounted parts for cars as you upgrade each affinity level, fuck you royally turn 10. Oh and fun fact, go in and try to modify a car, any car, and go to the engine swaps... Yea notice it doesn't tell you what the hell the motors are out of.... Good job Turn 10. Oh and heres a nice gem. If you have two controllers on at the same time, BOTH will attempt to control the car. Good job Turn 10 (and Microsoft really). Paint system is shit (only one set of colors to pick from other than the manufacturer colors and the bat shit insane "Special colors." What ever happened to having a matte set, a gloss set, and a metallic set? Shit even NFS had (has?) that....)
All in all. What the fuck were they thinking? They had a simple job with Forza 5.
1) Improve the graphics. ~ Done
2) Improve the physics engine. ~ Done
3) Improve the driving experience in the game (thanks to XBOX one's vibrating triggers) ~ piece of cake
4) Leave the menu system in tact. ~ FAILED
5) Leave the credit and experience system in tact. ~ FAILED
6) Add more cars. ~ Massively FAILED.
There are far less cars. In fact, you can't even go through the list of manufacturers by themselves any more. You have to browse through with EVERYTHING open at once. Who's bright fucking idea was that?
7) Add more flexability to modifying cars. ~Best I can tell failed. The system is a bit goofy and it's hard to decipher what engine swaps are what. Even with a company whos motors I know for the most part like Subaru. I know what motors should look like what as far as power, I still can't figure it out all the way.
8) Allow for drag races in split screen (seriously how else can you talk shit with a buddy over at your house and challenge each other to build an insane straight line car. It's such a simple thing that they never bothered to add in 4 but would add some entertainment. ~I think passed, if it works as I think, I didn't have time to test that today.
9) Don't fuck up the AI. ~ Failed miserably.
and 10) Add in dirt tracks. More tracks in general really, but mainly non-blacktop tracks. Some dirt, snow, all that good stuff. ~ Failed. In fact you can't even race on every track in the free drive mode best I can tell until you've raced them in the career mode. That's stupid.
Seriously. Turn 10, what the hell were you thinking?

Easiest way I've found to do split screen 100% all the time is to sign in both controllers(one as main account and one as guest) when you get into the main dashboard.
I don't like the whole not telling us what engine we're dropping in either. The lack of free upgrades does disappoint. However, if you factor in the percentage won from each race, you're honestly most likely coming out ahead in the long run. I do like the AI, however. Keeps things from being stale.
Do understand that this is a launch game, complete with a new engine, and everything built from scratch. The career mode is long and has great intros to every series by none other than our friends from Top Gear UK. Multiplayer is fun.
Additional cars will come in due time, unfortunately, in the form of paid DLC. My biggest gripe with the game isn't the lack of cars, but the lack of tracks.
Anyways, it's a great game with some shortcomings. In all honesty though, would you have wanted to wait another year?

The credit and xp system is MILES ahead of 4. Seriously, screw getting a new car every level and easymode free parts. I do have to agree that the engine swaps should show what car they come from tho.

Have a look at my reviews.
I've been the single most critical person on here about Forza 5.
Apparently, Turn 10 always makes a perfect game. Didn't you know? (Sarcasm)

At least it worked.
I got Battlefield 4 for my Xbox one, and it was massively broken. It's frustrating enough starting out with the crappy weapons and kit and not knowing the maps at all, but after about 3 or 4 matches of sucking massively, I finally started killing some people and getting some positive stats... and the game crashed all the way back to the Xbox home screen.
At least they have it patched now.

Getting discounted parts for winning in a brands car is pretty reasonable. The car every level might've seemed a bit extreme (seeing as it was so easy to level up) but simple solution. Lengthen the periods between levels.

I would much rather have waited another year for a finished game than be asked to buy an unfinished game with a fraction of the content any of the previous games started with. Hell the thing only has like 6 tracks.... If I was sitting here rolling in money I could afford to throw at a damn video game I'd be perfectly ok with a half-dozen $10 DLC packs that make the game tolerable. But I'm not, hence one of the many reasons I'm not buying this game.
Dropping $60 (now $40, wonder why) for a game that is unfinished is a joke. Asking your customers to then shell out an additional $30 or $40 to make the game approach half what the previous game started with is a joke. And a bad one at that.

Re: Paint system
You can still get metallic colours, as well as matte, satin, etc in any hue you want. They're under the special colors menu, and you have to press X to select the color. The first couple are mislabled as chrome and gold, but they're actually matte and satin. Metal flake is your metallic.

My thinking is that the manufacturer giving you more money is more realistic, as most of the parts you get aftermarket aren't made by the car manufacturer, so how can they give you a discount on them?

Ah I must have missed this part. I'll go back and explore that a bit more when I get the chance.

Eh, both have flaws. If they really wanted to get technical they'd have each part option for the cars have a couple manufacturer options. You'd then have manufacturers step up asking to sponsor your car, the more you won with each sponsor have them give you a bigger discount on their parts. Then you could have say 3-5 sponsors on your car at a time, some for tires, some for brakes, etc. Would make for a cool system. wouldn't require that much to have done a system that way. Just one additional sub menu on a couple things. Stuff like turbos and superchargers could get really cool, could have actual options to toss in, different sizes from each company, etc. Idk, not my biggest peve with the game by any stretch, just something that IMO was better the old way.

Did they take your old console away? Or force you to buy the new one early on?

No and I didn't buy it either. Was playing on my buddies system. figure testing a system/game out to figure if I even want the damn thing in the first place is probably a good idea.
For the record though, not slamming the Xbone at all. New controller is sick, aside from being rather large the counsole it is rather attractive to look at. Resolution is killer, everythings super smooth. Though the fact that 360 games aren't supported does piss me off a touch, though it was certainly expected.

Sooo much anger. I dunno, I am immensely satisfied. Here are some counterpoints.
-Upgrades are cheap... Seriously, do a few races and you will be able to afford every single upgrade available.
-Forza 4 car rewards were lame, they made the cars feel cheap and worthless... Seriously, buying/selling a audi lemans car for a few thousand credits? Epic fail.
-I would rather have 200cars with next gen detailing then 1000+ cars with most being directly ported from as far back as forza1 on the original xbox. Games like gt6 end up dropping the ball on quality for quantity and still manage to end up with 50skyline variants... To me that is lame.
-I had issues with the controllers, but as soon as I ensured each controller had a unique profile there were no issues.

Upgrades aren't bad, that does help. However in career mode I've noticed cars you pick to start the series will actually get upgraded automatically when you start. While it does make sure the car is competitive, I want to pick my upgrades myself. That's half the damn point.
I didn't mind Forza 4's car reqards, though I agree it did give them away too quickly. It would've been nice to have a system similar in some way and not entirely different though IMO.
I would rather wait another 2, 3, 4 months or however long it would've taken to get a decent variety of cars. The biggest failing here though is the lack of track choices. Seriously there needs to be an free upgrade pack somewhere in the future to add in at least a few tracks.
Did figure out the controller issues relatively easily, but the fact that two can be on the same account at once anyways is a bit of a failing.

Well, I just think you sound as if it somehow made Forza 4 worse for you. I reckon early adopters get what they pay for. I don't really think it's too unreasonable to be asked to pay $100 for the game, either - that's what it costs here, for a start, but what I really mean is that as games are getting better and better, maybe the prices can go up a bit.

Not at all. It did the opposite really. Reminded me how much I liked Forza 4.
And I'm not saying the price shouldn't go up. What I am saying is when they release a game it should be a finished and tested product. With the amount of issues Forza 5 has it pretty apparent it wasn't quality tested nearly as thoroughly as it should've been. The lack of cars and tracks just shows how quickly they pushed it off the line.

There are over a dozen tracks. Yes it would be nice for them to update their older tracks to fit with the new console, but that takes time, and we will probably see them again in another title. As far as rally/etc goes. When horizon 2 comes out next fall you should get your fill.
Also, try purchasing the car you want before entering a race, the auto upgrade may get you in the race faster, but if what you wanted was customization, you are gonna have to set the car up before the series.
As far as the two controller thing goes, I have already been using two for when one runs out of batteries, it is soo much easier to swap contrillers.

Yes but when you leave out the Ring, Fuji, Sedona, and Maple Valley, some people aren't gonna be happy. Mainly me. However Bathurst is an absolute blast.
That is certainly one way to do it, annoying that it doesn't let you say whether or not it upgrades automatically though.
